For anxiety the most important medications to try are medications like lexapro (escitalopram) or citalopram which treat both depression and anxiety.
Along with that benzodiazepines such as lorazepam are used on an as required basis for severe episodes of anxiety or panic attack.
Propranolol or beta blockers are chiefly used for palpitations which is something very common with anxiety.
