Resolved Question:

One year ago I suffered a fracture to my pubic bone. There seemed to be no reason for this other than the fact that I was on a long-term course of steroids at the time. Since then I have had swelling of my inner thighs and pubic area. All my GP can say is that it is the result of taking steroids and may never improve. Is there any treatment for this? It is very uncomfortable.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Please let me know.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

You should be on bisphosphonates for your osteoporosis.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Medications included in this group include:

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Alendronate, Residronate, Ibandronate, Zolidronic acid

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Other medications that can be used include strontium, tereparatide

Dr. Shahzad MD :

These medications help strengthen your bones and reduce the incidence of fractures.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

For the pain and inflammation you should take medications like Motrin or Aleve.
