Hi I am so tired most of the time. This isnt normal for me

Resolved Question:

Hi I am so tired most of the time. This isnt normal for me and ive felt like this for about a month now. My body feels heavy and weak and I feel like I don't have much energy. I have been worrying about a few different things recently too. The other day the skin on my face and shoulder was sore on one side and yesterday I had a bad stomach all day and a hot spell where I almost fainted, felt nauseous and had a cold sweat. I also have a cold sore. Today I just feel very tired so am resting. I run my own business and work full time so it might just be I need a rest but wanted to check. Thanks

Dr Basu :

Hi there, This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist. I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Dr Basu :

Too much work and stress can cause fatigue and exhaustion.

Dr Basu :

However, there can be other medical possibilities:

Dr Basu :

1. viral infection like mononucleosis ( Epstein Barr virus) can cause extreme tiredness lasting weeks.

Dr Basu :

2. Hypothyroidism--low thyroid hormones can cause tiredness, weight gain, irregular periods.

Dr Basu :

3. Anemia --iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency can cause tiredness as well.

Dr Basu :

4. vitamin D deficiency

Dr Basu :

5. Liver disease --viral hepatitis or other causes can affect your liver.

Dr Basu :

6. Autoimmune disorders like lupus --but usually joint pains, skin rash and other symptoms also will be present.

Dr Basu :

Also a healthy diet rich in antioxidants will boost your energy level.

Dr Basu :

Please eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables, especially dark green leafy vegetables and orange, yellow, purple and red colored fruits and vegetables. They have natural antiseptic and anticancer properties. Tomatoes, Beetroots and broccolis are very good for liver and also offer protection against cancer.

Dr Basu :

Get checked for other causes as above after discussing with your GP.

Customer: I had a bad bout of what I thought was gastroenteritis in march could that have caused it? Would you advise a blood test?
Dr Basu :

Yes that can cause this --viral infection likely as I mentioned above.

Dr Basu :

Yes i will advise blood tests given the persistence of symptoms.

Customer: Ok thank you ill make an apt with my gp
Dr Basu :

very welcome

Dr Basu :

It was my pleasure to help you today.
