No...

Leanne,
Lump and sensation of pain in abdomen which comes and goes intermittently makes me think of hernia. Hernia is an abnormal protrusion of abdominal contents out side the body. The lump increases in size when there is increase in intraabdominal pressure and it reduces when the pressure goes down.
I would get Ultrasound of abdomen and may be a CT scan to get more answers.

Hey there I have actualy just visited my GP and he examined me and said that the lump im feeling is the top of the liver??.. I do not understand this, this makes no sense at all, he asked me a few questions about my periods, bowels etc and said see how I go and to come back if it continues in two weeks.

Expert:  Ken replied 2 years ago.
Leanne,
This again can be a hernia as stated before. Other causes like soft tissue lesions like lipoma/ muscle mass also need to be considered. Ultrasound should give us more answers.

Okay i will pursue with an ultrasound, if this was anything more sinister surely it would of been noticed yesterday?

Expert:  Ken replied 2 years ago.
Yes, it would have been surely noticed by the doctor yesterday.

Well okay I will pursue an ultra sound scan refunding the lump?, is it possible it is my liver?? And would you say the stomach aymptoms I hace been describing ie.. light ache under the breast bone or lower as if spmwthing is ligering, a cause for concern?

Expert:  Ken replied 2 years ago.
Liver would not cause intermittent swelling or lump for sure.
The symptoms can be due to irritation of the stomach mucosa {secondary to excess acid secretion/ infection}. I would get upper GI scopy for getting more answers.

If the lump is a lipoma..can it cause very mild pain?

Expert:  Ken replied 2 years ago.
Yes it can cause mild pain {some times}.

Okay many thanks for your help over the last few days all this is just such a worry, I feel well in myself but this lump is just causing me tovstress I do get a few tiny twinges around the lump occasionally, can that be common?..

Expert:  Ken replied 2 years ago.
Leanne,
Yes this is common finding with a intermittent lump as the lump stretches the surrounding muscle and hence the symptom.
Please do not worry.

I seem to find myself in more pain if I lie on my stomach.. and in the mornings, this is on a daily basis too

Expert:  Ken replied 2 years ago.
We need to get it evaluated for sure. Investigations will give us more answers.

occassional stomach discomfort in the centre of the abdomen (and on the right side), very mild pain
