Ken :

Hello

Ken :

I am Dr Ken and I will be helping you today

Ken :

Do you have any known medical condition?

Ken :

Are there associated symptoms like - cough/ fever/ chest pain or breathlessness?

Customer:

No none

Ken :

I am happy that there are no associated symptoms. Let me explain a bit:

Customer:

I am 57 yrs old and have some bridge work which is quite old

Customer:

are you there?

Ken :

Blood in the oral cavity indicates that there is bleeding from either of these region: - issue with teeth {infection/ carries}/ gum infection/ vitamin deficiency {B12}

Ken :

Other causes like -

Ken :

chest infection/ throat infection or reflux disease.

Ken :

In your case -

Ken :

With history of some dental treatment -

Ken :

I would think of infection or inflammation at the tooth concerned OR

Ken :

Vitamin deficiency as most likely cause

Ken :

Next step-

Ken :

A physical evaluation along with few investigations like blood tests and chest x ray. These would give us more answers.

Ken :

Till than -

Ken :

Have balanced diet, adequate fluid/ warm water gargles with pinch of salt will help/ Ibuprofen should relieve inflammation if any/ have multivitamin tablet.

Ken :

Avoid alcohol, smoking or any known allergen

Ken :

Does this make sense?

Customer:

Gums are not inflamed, I do not drink or smoke. can I get B12 from chemist

Ken :

Yes, you can get it.

Ken :

I am sure it will help.

Ken :

If I were you - I would get a chest x ray too.

Customer:

where does blood on tongue come from?

Ken :

Just to rule out any abnormality at chest and above all for peace of mind.

Ken :

Tongue has mucosal lining.

Ken :

With vitamin deficiency -

Ken :

The small vessels below this mucosa become fragile and hence bleed.

Customer:

had chest xray in Feb this year,- all clear

Ken :

:)

Ken :

That relieves me.

Ken :

Please do not worry, you will be fine.

Customer:

ok thanks for your advise

Ken :

Good Luck
