Im due to have a ear op, they are fitting something to drain

Resolved Question:

Im due to have a ear op, they are fitting something to drain it. But I have started getting very dizzy and it feels like my head is going into free fall. The only way to try and stop it is closing my eyes. Should I seek medical advice

Dr Basu :

Hi there, This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist. I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Dr Basu :

Yes you should.

Dr Basu :

Most likely this is still your ear problem related.

Dr Basu :

the inner ear is not able to maintain you balance properly causing severe dizziness.

Dr Basu :

However, there is also likelihood of a stroke.

Dr Basu :

A stroke affecting the back of your brain ( cerebellum) can cause dizziness.

Dr Basu :

This should be ruled out by a neurological evaluation.

Dr Basu :

if no stroke, then this is purely ear related.

Dr Basu :

you can be given Meclizine oral tablets to control the symptoms from the hospital.

Dr Basu :

Best wishes,
