Hi there, This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist. I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Indeed you may be right.
Vitamin b12 level may not provide accurate diagnosis of B12 deficiency.
A better test to check for B12 deficiency is called Methyl Malonic Acid level in the blood.
This test will be elevated in vitamin B12 deficiency.
Other B vitamins like B1 ( thiamine), B6 ( pyridoxine), B3 ( niacin) deficiencies are also possible.
So they should be checked as well.
Folate deficiency also should be checked with homocysteine level.
Thyroid disorder, diabetes are other possibilites.
It was my pleasure to help you today. I am Dr Basu experienced in Neurological Diseases. If I have answered all your questions, Please rate my response Excellent (click on the smiley faces) under this chat box only. Please bookmark my profile for asking further questions!
