Hi there, This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist. I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Yes it is.
TSH should be below 3.5
Yours is high.
So you have low thyroid.
TPO antibody level also should be checked.
If your TPO antibody level is high, then that also confirms hypothyroidism.
Would this cause the fatigue and why wont my doc treat me
free T4 level also should be checked not just T3
Ideally you should be on levothyroxine 25 mcg daily.
yes of course.
You should be treated.
Free t4 was 13
not total right?
I also have allergies and was blaming it on the fatigue
Yeah free t4 I think
you have definite hypothyroidism
your symptoms will improve dramatically with levothyroxine.
low dose levothyroxine is perfectly safe for you.
Im so angry he wont give me it though they dont treat in uk unless your tsh is above 10 she said and said my tsh wouldn't be causing my symptoms but im convinced it it
No that is not correct anymore.
I was treated in the past for hyperthyroidism but now its low
WE find TSH above 3.5 can cause significant symptoms even if it does not seem very high va;ue
that is another sign your thyroid went underactive
what medication was used to treat your hyperthyroidism?
Carbizamole I think its called
see you have autoimmune thyroiditis.
immune system destroying your gland.
initially there will be hyperthyroidism as more hormones are relased from destruction.
then gland becomes exhausted
and hypothyroidism sets in .
cabimaxole may worsen the hypo
I had full blood count liver test kidney and all was fine too
they are not affected usually from thyroid
do you get regular period?
Not lately no
ok that is another typical sign of thyroid problem.
Now there can be estrogen deficiency as well.
Im going on holidays on Monday and just feel like rubbish
you can try natural thyroid extract --over the counter
also L tyrosine supplement and selenium supplement boost thyroid function.
I dont think that exists in uk
L tyrosine and selenium should be
or order online
and you should see a thyroid specialist if possible.
Yeah them two exist. I must get some.....also one more question have u ever heard of anyone having systematic effects from flonase
not that common --but possible from long term use
Yeah wil see a specialist when I get home from hols
after all it is a steroid and can get absorbed through nose
that will be better
I experienced systemic effects with flonase
by the way, steroids make thyroid symptoms more prominnent.
I know its not common
it suppresses thyroid further
so avoid flonase
Yeah funny u say that as I have got worse sonce using that spray..wat about cetirizine does it affect it
no that should be fine
I am a thyroid specialist :)
Ok I need it for allergies... so you think I should be treated then with that tsh
yes definitely and your symptoms.
It affectsvevery part of your body any other meds I should avoid for thyroid
Is heavy head and heavy eyes usually symptoms and sligbt off balance feeling
these symptoms are non specific but possible with thyroid also.
they are more likely from sinus congestion.
Yep was thinking that myself wil ceterizine help I cant tolerate sudafed
yes cetrizine should help.
also you can use neti pot to cleanse your sinuses
How long is usually recommended to take...wat will be better? Do u mean sudafed?
Cetrizine for at least 2 weeks.
Right ok....hopefully that helps the heavy eyes then.
yes it should
Ok just need to get thyroid sorted and thanks for the info regarding flonase and thyroid
I didnt know it could affect thyroid..some docs say it doesnt enter bloodstream but surely it must in some way
no you should avoid flonase since you are not on any medication for thyroid yet.
Can I have some wine on holidays with cetrizine
yes you can
