i had an operation for colorectal cancer in 1997. immediately

Customer Question

i had an operation for colorectal cancer in 1997. immediately after coming round after op i couldn't feel my feet. i thought it was because i had tight stockings. when they were removed the pain remained.
I have tried numerous pain killers none of which were effective except codine phosphate to which i became addicted resulting in a number of falls and other problems - heart beat
Last year i had a colostimy to replace the original iliostomy which was becoming unmagable
The pain is now such that i have a problem walking and standing

Hello. I'm Dr. Phil, licensed and practicing internist. Excellent service is my goal.
Have you tried a drug called pregabalin?
Also have you had b12 checked to make sure this isn't the problem?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

yes I had a bad reaction to pregabalin

what is b12?

Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 3 years ago.
You could try gabapentin instead
B12 is a vitamin. Deficiency in this vitamin (which is common in bowel surgery people) can cause all of these symptoms.
It should be tested in the blood
