Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Hello

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Make sure to remove he wet clothing and dry the area.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Applying a triple antibiotic ointment will sooth the inflammation and prevent infection of the scald.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

If there is more skin damage than just the fact it has turned red you should have it dressed properly at the ER.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

If a blister does form do not pop the blister

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

Reapply the ointment daily, covering it with a dry gauze lightly taped over the area.

Daniel Sheibley, MD :

If it does not continue to heal or becomes more inflamed after a few days since the burn happened seek care from your primary care physician as you may need antibiotics at that time.
