Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

you should have your thyroid hormone levels checked.

Dr. David :

high thyroid hormone levels called hyperthyroidism can cause weight loss.

Dr. David :

what is your TSH or thyroid stimulating hormone level?

Dr. David :

what is your current weight and height currently?

Customer:

78 k 5ft 4ins

Dr. David :

have you had your thyroid hormone levels checked?

Dr. David :

if not, I would get your thyroid hormone levels checked.

Dr. David :

to look for hyperthyroidism which can cause weight loss.

Customer:

no not yet

Dr. David :

I would talk to your doctor to get blood test to check your thyroid hormone levels

Dr. David :

do you have any other questions?

Customer:

yes I was on alli for 2.5 years and i am still havig all the same symptoms dont you find that signifficant

Dr. David :

what symptoms? just the weight loss?

Dr. David :

any other symptoms?

Dr. David :

any diarrhea?

Customer:

no pure fat an oil in my stool allwyise soft and up to 4 times per dayall the same as with alli

Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

this might not be due to the alli.

Dr. David :

you could have dysfunction of your gall bladder or pancreas not secreting digestive enzymes or bile into your GI system.

Dr. David :

you could also have a bowel inflammatory or bowel allergy condition like glutten wheat protein allergy called celiac spruce disorder

Dr. David :

which is causing this fat and oil in your stools.

Dr. David :

you need a stool fat content evaluation

Dr. David :

and a colonoscopy

Dr. David :

and you need to see a GI doctor.

Dr. David :

to be tested for celiac spruce disorder

Dr. David :

and testing to see if your gall bladder is working properly or not.

Dr. David :

it sounds like you are not absorbing fat calories in your stool and this can be from lack of bile or lack of pancreatic enzymes in your system

Dr. David :

or colitis or inflammatory bowel disease or celiac spruce disorder which can cause poor nutrient absorption.

Dr. David :

I don't think this was caused by the alli.

Customer:

I have been off alli for two and a half years have all the same symptoms, for the last year I used ali i was only taking 1 pill every 2 days still with the full effects

Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

it could very well have been coincidental that you were having these issues with alli

Dr. David :

you need to see a GI specialist and get a colonoscopy and more GI testing.

Dr. David :

to find out for sure what is going on.

Dr. David :

and if these symptoms are from the alli

Dr. David :

or from another inflammatory bowel condition you developed while on alli.

Customer:

nd

Customer:

i am sure for the last 5years with alli and since symptoms are identical what would explain the oil and fat in my stool

Dr. David :

your bowels are not absorbing fat in your diet and the fat is going out into your stool.

Dr. David :

this can come from pancreas dysfunction and not making enough pancreatic enzymes

Dr. David :

or it could be due to bile duct dysfunction

Dr. David :

and putting out enough bile into your small bowel.

Customer:

do you not think that is a hang over from the alli or is there another illness that could cause that

Dr. David :

I don't think it is hang over side effects from alli.

Dr. David :

I think there could be another process going on causing you not to absorb fat from your bowels.

Dr. David :

it could be a colitis or gall bladder dysfunction

Dr. David :

or pancreas dysfunction

Dr. David :

and you need more testing and a GI consultation to test for all of these possibilities

Dr. David :

are you willing to see a GI doctor?

Customer:

what is a gi doctor

Dr. David :

GI is gastroenterology doctor

Dr. David :

these doctors specialize in the GI system, colon, pancreas, liver, gall bladder.

Dr. David :

and they perform colonoscopy.

Customer:

Yes I will do asap thanks for your help.
