Customer: Hello
Dr Basu :

hi

Dr Basu :

do you still have the pain?

Customer: Can u help me
Dr Basu :

sure

Dr Basu :

do you have any constipation?

Customer: Yes more of a dull ache really but no pain /burning when peeing
Dr Basu :

ok

Dr Basu :

any constipation?

Customer: Kind of
Dr Basu :

which side is the pain left or right?

Customer: Both
Customer: left ATM but higher in my tummy
Dr Basu :

does it go to your back?

Customer: No
Customer: I'm scared of sti
Customer: feel like I need to pass wind
Dr Basu :

ok

Dr Basu :

any recent sex?

Customer: Yes
Dr Basu :

unprotected and new partner?

Customer: Yes
Customer: but he says he is clean
Dr Basu :

ok

Customer: if sti surely pain when I pee ??
Dr Basu :

see STI usually causes vaginal symptoms initially.

Dr Basu :

And also urinary symptoms should be present.

Dr Basu :

In some cases, which is not common, you can just get lower abdominal pain.

Customer: I have no vaginal symptoms or urinary
Dr Basu :

So, if you are in doubt, testing is advised.

Dr Basu :

ok that is reassuring

Dr Basu :

chances are you do not have any sti

Dr Basu :

your symptoms are likely constipation related.

Dr Basu :

Diverticulitis --inflamation of colon can cause this.

Customer: I was thinking uti but no burning
Dr Basu :

yes that is also unlikely

Customer: yes I am passing small stool but blk in colour and not alot
Dr Basu :

yes that is little concerning.

Dr Basu :

black color can be due to the blood commonly seen with infection --diverticulitis.

Dr Basu :

you still need to see your GP for a clinical exam and antibiotics.

Customer: i cannot get appointment with Gp for 10 days hence contacting u
Dr Basu :

ok I understand --but you know we do not prescribe right?

Customer: They told me to go to A&E
Customer: i know I just needed my mind easing
Dr Basu :

at least i can reassure you this is not sti

Dr Basu :

but this can still be a different infection like diverticulitis.

Dr Basu :

not sex related

Dr Basu :

you can try a stool softener like Metamucil meanwhile.

Customer: thank you
Dr Basu :

For pain, Neurofen can be tried

Dr Basu :

Best wishes,

Dr Basu :

do not worry

Dr Basu :

you will get well soon.

Customer: if I go to hospital will they think I'm overreacting
Dr Basu :

not really

Dr Basu :

since you already waited a week, this is not overreaction.

Customer: Thank u so much xx
Dr Basu :

It was my pleasure to help you today.
