Hi I am a 41 year old male and have recently been experiencing

Resolved Question:

Hi
I am a 41 year old male and have recently been experiencing heaviness in chest and throat and breathlessness..I had all respiritory tests come back clear and I had a endoscopy and they found gastritis esophagitis and moderate reflux. And bile in the stomach which is probably because I had my gallbladder removed 18 months ago..
I have increased my lansoprazole to 30mg twice a day for the last 2 weeks and I eat very well but im still suffering with this constant.. And now I also I am also experiencing terrible breathlessness every time I lay down and I get a lump in throat and I cant even sleep now because of this..
My question is…..Can this get better in time and if so how long does this take roughly
Regards
Darren

Dr. Phil, MD :

you need to have your heart checked right away

Customer:

Hi

Customer:

My heart as been checked and all ok i have been diagnosed with LPR silent reflux

Dr. Phil, MD :

.

Dr. Phil, MD :

okay good

Dr. Phil, MD :

then if you are on the lansoprazole and still not controlled

Dr. Phil, MD :

you need to add ranitidine 300 mg at night

Customer:

Can the oesophageal sphincter strengthen with time and if so how long do you think to make a full recovery

Dr. Phil, MD :

no it cannot

Dr. Phil, MD :

you simply need to suppress acid production

So it can't get better and will need surgery

Dr. Phil, MD :

no not necessarily

Dr. Phil, MD :

if you can suppress acid fully and relieve symptoms then that is getting better

How long shall i wait to see if it is improving

Dr. Phil, MD :
