I have a sore throat - what are these lumps on one of my tonsils?
This is Dr. David
the lumps could be from an infection like a strep throat infection on the tonsils
the tonsil is like a large lymph node and can swell up when your body is fighting off an infection.
also acid reflux up the throat can irritate the tonsil and cause it to swell as well.
thanks for the photo.
your tonsils look pretty normal
do you have any acid reflux?
or fever from infection?
no just slightly sore
but on side looks like it has lumps on it?
yes, on the right side of the photo?
yes I see them.
it doesn't look worrisome.
normal tonsil can look like that.
oh okay - I have never looked myself with a torch :)
I was scared of herpes or something
herpes cold sores would be much more painful and sore in the mouth and throat.
mouth is not sore, just a slight soreness in throat.
I would watch your diet.
avoid acid reflux
although my tongue has been a bit white recently
so i keep cleaning it off
avoid sodas, tomato sauces, fried foods, spicy foods, large meals, eating too close to bed time.
you should brush your tongue once or twice a day when you brush your teeth.
ah right, I eat all of the above lol
all of that can cause bad acid reflux.
you need to work on improving your diet.
best of luck to you.
