Dr. Natasha :

there is no ENT doctor on right now, but I can help you if you want

Customer:

No problem

Customer:

Hello there

Customer:

So around 1.5 months ago, after a flu I have had a lymph node

Customer:

Which my ENT felt that it was bigger than normal lymph nodes and thought it was quite serious

Customer:

Hence we have done blood tests

Customer:

After a course of Augmentin the lymph node has diminished

Customer:

and it appears that my white blood cells were infected

Customer:

Now, after 1.5 months

Customer:

After a pretty major sore throat

Customer:

One which is so bad that when I cough i would wish to rip out my throat

Customer:

I'm have a lymph node which first started on saturday on the left neck

Customer:

and it's not developing on the right

Customer:

my ENT said there's no signs of blood cancer

Customer:

the lymph node this time is also considerably smaller compared to the first one

Customer:

what would you suggest

Customer:

I had fears that this might be HIV, but I have been very safe in my sexual activities, which means I use a condom everytime

Customer:

But, the lymph nodes did only appear after a major illness

Dr. Natasha :

hold on reading

Dr. Natasha :

did you get tested for mono

Dr. Natasha :

or CMV

Dr. Natasha :

r hib

Dr. Natasha :

or HIV

Customer:

Yes

Customer:

I have gotten tested for MONO and CMV

Customer:

Cancer index and a normal blood test

Dr. Natasha :

and HIV?

Customer:

all were without concerns

Customer:

not HIV i don't think

Dr. Natasha :

well, usually HIV causes generalised node swelling

Dr. Natasha :

but that would be the last test to check

Dr. Natasha :

otherwise it is some other benign virus

Customer:

Well

Customer:

Based on the fact that from the first set of blood tests that the ENT has done for me

Customer:

It suggested that my white blood cells were infected

Customer:

I don't have the report with me

Customer:

But does HIV cause infected white blood cells?

Dr. Natasha :

what do you mean by infected WBC? was the count high or low?

Customer:

low

Customer:

in the negative 10s

Customer:

thats what i read

Customer:

i might've misread

Dr. Natasha :

that does not make any sense

Dr. Natasha :

you cannot have a negative WBC

Customer:

well

Customer:

he told me i had more WBC than RBC

Customer:

from the report

Customer:

if that helps

Dr. Natasha :

well, it means you have an infection

Dr. Natasha :

it doesn't mean your WBC are 'infected'

Dr. Natasha :

that would make them low

Dr. Natasha :

your WBC can increase with a cold or bacterial infection

Dr. Natasha :

but if you have not had a HIV test, you need on

Dr. Natasha :

*one

Customer:

ok

Dr. Natasha :

otherwise, keep an eye on the nodes. if they are getting larger and more firm, then they need to be biopsied

Dr. Natasha :

other than that, don't worry about it

Dr. Natasha :

did I provide you with excellent service?

Customer:

usually

Customer:

is infected nodes a symptom of HIV

Customer:

or is it uncommon

Dr. Natasha :

they can be a symptom of HIV

Dr. Natasha :

which is why I suggest that you have the test

Dr. Natasha :

are they usually HIV? No

Customer:

hmm

Dr. Natasha :

they are one of the least common causes

Customer:

that is a relieve

Customer:

no, my body haven't shown any other HIV symptoms

Customer:

and nodes appear after a major illness

Customer:

i have been working 15 hours per day

Customer:

and sleeping very little recently

Customer:

i don't want to second guess and ill consult a doctor but from my case is it unlikely to be HIV?

Dr. Natasha :

the nodes are there to help you fight off infection

Dr. Natasha :

node swelling is normal when you have an infection

Dr. Natasha :

if they stay swollen, you need to make sure everything is ok

Dr. Natasha :

but yes, unlikely to be HIV

Customer:

ok given the last time

Customer:

that the augmentin has fought it off

Customer:

very quickly

Customer:

and it came back

Customer:

wait let me check when was my lest node

Customer:

last

Customer:

just let me check

Customer:

was in mid june

Dr. Natasha :

ok

Dr. Natasha :

well, get the HIV test

Customer:

in fact early june

Dr. Natasha :

that is the only thing I would suggest other than observation

Customer:

well there's always an underlying fear for such tests

Customer:

but usually

Customer:

if it is HIV

Customer:

1st node episode, early june 2nd node episode mid sept

Customer:

does seem a bit long

Dr. Natasha :

you would have other symptoms that just nodes

Customer:

i don't have any other symptoms at all

Customer:

what are the most common ones tho?

Customer:

let me check

Dr. Natasha :

so I doubt it is HIV

Dr. Natasha :

rashes, sweats, fatigue,

Dr. Natasha :

but sometimes nothing

Customer:

how would you define sweats

Customer:

no, no fatigue at all i can party all night and stay awake the whole day haha

Dr. Natasha :

sweating

Dr. Natasha :

Did I provide you with excellent service?

Customer:

would appreciate if you could tell me what kind of rashses are rashes and how to define sweats

Customer:

then I'm done

Customer:

thx

Dr. Natasha :

HIV rashes can look like anything - blotches, small dots, itchy

Dr. Natasha :

Sweats are perspiration, usually at night and when it is not hot, necessarily

Customer:

hand sweat doesn't count?

Dr. Natasha :

no

Customer:

ok none of these

Customer:

so i should be clear i assume?

Dr. Natasha :

yes

Customer:

ok cool

Customer:

thanks natasha

Customer:

ciao

Dr. Natasha :

did I provide you with excellent service?

Customer:

Yup

Dr. Natasha :

great take it easy

Customer:

cheers
