I am 4 months pregnant and worried I may have been exposed

Customer Question

I am 4 months pregnant and worried I may have been exposed to hepatitis b. I am hoping that I'm just being very paranoid. Yesterday I was volunteering at my local food bank, we had a client in who we know is a very long term injecting drug user. He was coughing quite a lot (although he did cough into his hand). When I googled blood borne diseases I saw that Hep B could be transmitted through saliva (I know that Hep C and HIV cannot). I don't know for certain the man had Hep B but I'm aware it's a possibility in an IV drug user. I am worried I might have contracted it by getting the salvia on me via the cough or from touching items (pens, files) the man had touched after coughing into his hand. I also touched a small scab that I have on my ear from a spot and may have rubbed my eyes. I'm also worried in case I transmitted any saliva into my handbag when I was getting my keys etc to leave. I didn't have any open wounds yesterday but I washed my hands so much last night my skin had cracked today and I thought if there were germs in the handbag they might now get into my skin when I go to get stuff. My husband thinks that I am being paranoid and reaching for risks that aren't there, I hope this is the case but I've been so scared and stressed the last 24 hours, I need to know if I should be contacting my GP on Monday.
