Is there a cure for halitosis?

Customer Question

Is there a cure for halitosis?

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Hi. Can you tell me more about the problem?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Me and my friend were talking about Halitosis in general. That is why the question came about. Also that I do get tonsil stones from time to time and heard it causes it.

So just wanted to know if there is a general cure for Halitosis

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
It really depends on the cause Mary. If it's a problem with a gum or tooth infection or a sinus infection then antibiotics usually will cure it. If it's a problem with gastric reflux then medications like Zantac or Prilosec works for that. Tonsil stones might cause it but rarely and usually those can be removed.

How can you remove tonsil stones? As I have problems removing sometimes, i dont tend to see it, it comes out from brushing etc

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Sometimes they just fall out by themselves but massaging with a tooth brush and gargling with salt water
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Lastly which one is better Gaviscon vs. Zantac

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Both work well but for consistent treatment daily Zantac is best
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Can this be taken daily?

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Yes it can
