it sounds like you are very active on your knees with sports.
what sports do you play
you need to stretch frequently before and after playing and also be icing your knee a lot after sports every time you play
to help decrease swelling and pain.
elevation of your knee up above your heart after sports while icing can help decrease swelling.
have you been doing these things?
hamstring stretching and quadracept and calf muscle stretching.
you need to continue to ice and elevate your knee.
