I have swelling on my instep, been there for several months,

Resolved Question:

I have swelling on my instep, been there for several months, not painful, not red.
Also have intermittent pain in the joints where my toes meet my feet, happens if I flex my toes, sharp stabbing pain.
Swelling means I cannot wear certain boots as the pressure is painful, not a problem in summer, now it is an issue with colder, wetter weather.

Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

sounds like it could be arthritis in your foot or gout or fluid retention.

Dr. David :

excessive salt can cause your feet to swell.

Dr. David :

you need to see your doctor and get a foot xray as well.

Customer:

OK, it is just one foot and most of the time the swelling isn't painful.

Dr. David :

it could still be arthritis in that foot or poor circulation

Dr. David :

or possibly gout.

Dr. David :

do you have a GP doctor you can see

Customer:

OK, thank you, ***** ***** make an appointment to see my GP.

Dr. David :

you are welcome

Dr. David :

Dr. David :

I hope the foot swelling gets better
