I am Dr.Amita and I would be glad to assist you today.
The symptoms you have described can be serious in nature and may suggest transient ischemic attack where blood supply to some part of brain can get affected
This lack of blood supply may present as numbness in certain parts of body
You need to get yourself examined on urgent basis
been to doctors .they never mentioned this as an answer
What did they say
they are referring me to a neuroligist which means it could take weeks for appointment
what do you suggest
Did they give you any initial possible diagnosis
no ,didnt seem to be able to diagnos
Ok.TIA is the most serious possible diagnosis with the symptoms of numbness.Other conditions can give rise to similar symptoms including different types of neuropathy. If they have been able to rule out TIA you can wait for a neurologist appointment as TIA is a condition which would need urgent care.
this problem has been going on for some months , it only occurs when asleep
Do you tend to sleep on one side of the body that is left
could it be a vitamin b12 deficiency, dont sleep on one side .
One of the common causes of neuropathy is Vit B12 deficiency but B12 deficiency is unlikely to cause numbness on only left side
as it has been happening for quite sometime is it likely to be urgent
More likely something going on right side of brain ( right side of brain controls left side of body) or a more localised neuropathy are likely.
If it has been happening for a long time it may not be urgent
anything i can do , its been months and do not want to sleep
You may take B12 supplements but I do not think that would be of much help. You do need an examination by a neurologist and further investigations like CT and/or MRI of brain to diagnose the cause
ok. how come it only happens after sleep
Very difficult to say because that definitely is a confounding factor and therefore detailed examination and investigations are needed
