hi - he has been to a doctor recently but not about this and no tests have been done. He is very keen to have a full check up on his health and we feel he could do with losing weight - is there a well mans clinic that you would recommend.
There is no man's clinic. The best thing to do is to go to the GP and request all the tests done.
He requires routine blood tests of the blood.
Blood tests including complete blood count and a comprehensive metabolic profile.
Along with that you can request a thyroid hormone profile because one of the causes of weight gain could be low thyroid hormones.
So you should request these tests and, if normal, this would mean that he is pretty much healthy with his liver and kidneys working fine.
Also his blood counts normal.
So I would like that he should have these routine tests done.
Are you with me?
yes thank you - we shall make an appt and go back to his GP.
