Hi Dr, For the past 4 months or so I have been experiencing

Customer Question

Hi Dr,
For the past 4 months or so I have been experiencing a lot of discomfort, I have been unable to sleep properly or getting unrestful sleep, have had a fuzzy feeling in my head and something which I believe to be called brain fog. Also a lot of the time upon standing I feel dizzy and my vision goes black for a moment. Literally every time I swallow my ears pop which is impossible to ignore causing me some annoyance.. Lastly every night in bed I can feel my heartbeat in my chest and ear, sometimes in my head, also experiencing more frequent and strange dreams! I have had a blood test, not sure what for but it came back as all good and I'm having a hard time thinking that all of this could be purely down to anxiety/stress as I'm a 20 year old male and I eat healthily, keep fit and play sport! I've left uni because of it as I can't concentrate on anything else other than what this may be.. Have you any idea on what this could be and what to do?

Dr Basu :

Hi there, This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist. I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Dr Basu :

do you have any family history of any neurological conditions?

Dr Basu :

do you experience any urinary incontinence, vision disturbances, or weakness of the legs or hands?

Dr Basu :

These symptoms can be related to the neurological conditions as well.

Dr Basu :

Vitamin b12 deficiency is a common cause.

Dr Basu :

Multiple sclerosis is another condition.

Dr Basu :

These possibilities are less common but should be explored.

Dr Basu :

Otherwise, anxiety and panic disorder can cause these symptoms.

Dr Basu :

Cognitive behavioral therapy will help.

Dr Basu :

Also anti anxiety medications like hydroxyzine can be used short term.

Dr Basu :

I will suggest you to make sure vitamin B12 level and thyroid levels ( TSH) have been checked.

Dr Basu :

Also consider a neurilogical consultation.

Dr Basu :

best wishes,

JACUSTOMER-krq9c1yu- :

No family history of neurological conditions that I know of, I sometimes experience floaters in my vision and muscle twitching which I forgot to mention no weakness in legs or hands..

Dr Basu :

ok

Dr Basu :

these symptoms need further neurological evaluation.

Dr Basu :

Please see a neurologist

Dr Basu :

consider a MRI scan of the brain with contrast to look for MS lesions.

JACUSTOMER-krq9c1yu- :

Okay thanks

Dr Basu :

It was my pleasure to help you today.
