Customer Question

hi my son was ill over xmas with a barking cough, sore throat, feeling ill, boxing day nite his throat was swelling up. so called out of hours doc, they asked to see him, he thought it was croup, he has a history of having this previously. but he is 14 now, so doc wasnt sure ,he called child specialist, they wanted to see him that nite, we went to main hospital and saw a peadatrician, gave him 2 tabs, and a throat spray. checked him ova and said its his allergys have been sparked off.he is very sensitive to dust mites, hayfever. came home he has improved but still barking cough, energy is returning,he went back on his antihistame 27th dec. i called doc 29th and he didnt seem to think there was much more they could do, but said we could see our regular doctor.and left it like that. today doctors surgery called and asked to see my son im all confused ? obviously i made the appointment but not sure why they have asked to see him? all she said was the doctor has asked to see him after being admitted to the hospital boxing day . is this normal or do u think this could be a serious illness they may think my son has underlyeing ??

Hi. A few questions first please. Did he have a nose and throat culture and did they get a chest x-ray? And what were the two tabs he was given?

Rebecca I haven't heard back from you so I'm going to answer and we can continue after this if you'd like. I asked those questions to see if he might have either whooping cough or pneumonia or both. Perhaps this is just his allergies and the doctors just want to check him out one more time. Since he seems to be getting better there's less chance that this is something serious but I agree with his being seen again
