Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Could this disorientation be linked to anythimg else?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no, I think it is due to excessive anxiety.

are you on treatment anxiety?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I have been given haloperidol snd sertraline. But i cant describe How disorientated and not here i feel

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
what dose of sertraline are you on?

you might need a higher dose
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

They have upped it to 100. This really doesnt feel like anxiety?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
you should talk to your doctor about higher doses of sertraline which could help you.

what does it feel like then?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

It feels like something really bad. Could this be a sign of a serious illness? Is there anything out there that could present in this way? I feel like im dying now slowly

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
it sounds like your anxiety symptoms are not being well controlled.

you have severe anxiety disorder.

you most likely need higher doses of your sertraline.

you might need also a long acting benzo like valium or klonopin to help your symptoms

talk to your doctor about these options.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Could it be serious? Im scared something hasnt been picked up?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no, it is not serious.

it is your anxiety symptoms out of control making you worried.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

How can they make me this ill? And when i say ill i mean extremely ill to the point i cant function. I feel like im nearly unconscious

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
severe anxiety can make you very ill, like you can't function.

and can cause severe brain fog and disorientation as well.

you need to talk to your doctor to refer you to be seeing a psychiatrist regularly

and also a psychotherapist regularly as well.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Im at the doctor tomorrow. What can i do till then? How can i get through today? I cant describe how out of it i feel. Could this be a brain disease or something?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
excessive anxiety disorder is a type of brain disease or mental illness.

that is what is going on.

you should ask your doctor tomorrow about medications like valium or klonopin that you can take when you have bad anxiety symptoms.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I will, how can i reduce this disoriented feeling at the moment its so bad.

Could it be a serious brain condition other than anxiety?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no, you don'dt have a serious brain condition

the only way to help these sensation is to go to the A&E or hospital and tell them you are having bad anxiety and panic and they can give you a short prescription medications like ativan or xanax which can help.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ok so theres no chance at all it could be serious?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no chance it would be serious.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Todays just the worst ive felt so its like it got worse and its killing me. This spaciness just wont go away its so so bad i cant even describe

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
yes, I understand,

then you should go to the A&E and ask and medication treatments like I have advised you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Can i just check how do you know its not serious,

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
because I have helped close to 20,000 clients online

and I am a practicing doctor in the USA.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Is there anything i can do at home to reduce this disorientation? I cant have the benzos coz im pregnant.

I just dont no where to turn here

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
you can be talking to a psychotherapist weekly to help.

that can help your disorientation

the therapist can work with you on cognitive behavioral therapy.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ive got an appointment but earliest i can get is 3 weeks time. Is there any medication specifically ? Anxiety meds just arnt helping it

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
you should call up your doctor about increasing your dose of sertraline which can help your disorientation.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I cant tonight as they are closed today.

I feel disorientated but i also feel something really bad is going to happen any minute. But its like a really ill feeling aswell like when you have a virus but 100x worse i cant settle anywhere.

Could it beva heart problem or anything else?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no, you are not having a heart problem

if you are worried, you should go to the hospital or A&E

but they will tell you as well that it is also due to your anxiety.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

So i can try and take it in. What symptoms would i have generally if it was a serious condition?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
you don't need to be worried about more symptoms

your anxiety is bad enough.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

DO you think ill get better? Im not wOrried about other symptoms just this spacey disorientated one.

Im scared im going to be stuck like this

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
your symptoms will get better if you increase your sertraline dose.

you won't be stuck like this.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I hope not thats my worst fear. My baby is due in april you think ill be better by then?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
yes, you will be better by then if you increase your sertaline dose.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

So can you promise me I wont die and this is definitely not s serious illness?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
yes, I promise you wont die.

this is not a serious illness.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Can you suggest if i can do anything tonight at home to help relax and reduce this a bit?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
you can use mental visualization techniques to pictures yourself in a calm and relaxing place

it can take some practice, but with practice it can help you reduce your anxiety.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Is there anything i can buy from shops to reduce spacey/disorientated feeling?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no, not over the counter.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

So theres no meds specifically ?

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no. not over the counter.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I just feel so terrible like i wont survive the night, im so sure i will die

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
you won't die. I promise

try the mental visualization.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Do you think i need a brain scan or anything? I will try that

Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
no, you don't need a brain scan.
Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
there ! It seems the other doctor has opted out. How can I help you ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hiya, was speaking to other doctor about the way i feel. I feel so disorientated and spaced out. Its really scaring me. I just want to know what it is?

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
Thank you reply .
How long have you felt this way ?
Do you any other symptoms along with this like nausea , vomiting , light headedness etc ?
Do you have headache with this too ?
What medications you take ? This may be medication related issue .
Do you take drugs ( no offence , just covering all bases ) ?
Thank s
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ive felt like this weeks but seems worse.

No other symptoms at all

No headache

I am taking sertraline and haloperidol but was feeling like this beforehand

No dont take any drugs

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
I see you are taking two drugs related to psychiatry .
Setraline is usually used
Haloperidol usually .
What is the diagnosis you use these medications for ?
I understand a sharing your private information can be difficult . I respect your privacy , but I am here to help you with this difficulty .
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No its ok i just want to know whats wrong.

The doctor says i have anxiety but cant believe thats why i feel this ill.

What do you think?

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
Just read through some of your previous replies . Just to confirm you are 27 yr old female ?
Anxiety is feeling of tension or fear that stems from either a situation ( secondary ) or may be primary without underlying ( apparent reason ) .
A lot of times past events dictate these problems.
The index event ( like abuse ) may be in childhood and problems come may be more recognized as adults.
Since I not aware of you past history it will be difficult to comment.
Do you feel like sharing any problems in your past . It may some abusive relation ship or trauma .
It may be that it is some thing more work related with e.g stress of work or competition .
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ive had nothing i was perfectly fine.

Do you think its a physical illness? I feel really spaced out and disorientated and feel like i could die any minute

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
Okay .
Lets check some things .
Can you take your blood pressure and heart rate and let me know ?
Are you sweating ?
What dose of medications you take ?
Have you been taking your meds more than prescribed ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I cant take blood pressure but had it done 4 days ago and was 129/79 my heartrate is 82 beats per minute.

Im not sweating and on 100 sertraline 500mg haliperidol twice a day. Am taking as required

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
I would recommend rechecking the vital signs to make sure you'r okay.
If you have feeling of dying , no one can re assure without making sure you are hamodynamically stable .
Haloperidol dose you take is a high dose . This drug can cause arrythmias especially if you have electoryle problems .
People with QT interval prolongation ( EKG abnormality ) are especially at increased risk .
This arrythmia can be life threating.
You have to make sure vital signs are normal , your EKG is normal ( i.e it will make sure you do not have arrythmia) and that your electrolytes in blood are noraml especially potassium .
You can get more info on this by following the link :
http://www.drugs.com/dosage/haloperidol.html
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

So do you think i could be dying?

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
I can not say given this is internet based limited communication and I can not examine you and make sure your vital signs are normal .
The ultimate decision is yours .
While this may not turn out to be the case , but no one can give you reassurance with 100% certainty on the internet .
Haloperidol dose have some serious side effects which can not be ignored .
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

What are vital signs?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

All my vital sIgns are fine.

Does that mean im not dying,+

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
This is re assuring .
What are you vitals signs though ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

What exactly do you want to know?

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
Your blood pressure , heart rate , body temperature and respiratory rate .
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Blood pressure Is 129/79 heartrate is 82 per min, body temp is normal. What is resp rate?

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
That is the number of times you breath per minute.
Your vital signs look okay so it is re assuring.
I would suggest you have the following tests done to rule out any arrythmia .
Serum electrolytes including calcium and magnesium .
Electrocardiography .
If both are normal then I could say we some safety that you are not critically ill or not going to pass out.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Im at doctor tomorrow. Whats normal rate?

Wouldnt there be other symptoms if my heart? Like irreg heartbeat?

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
Normal respiratory rate is between 12 -18 . Can be as high as 20 in exercise.
Irregular heart rate is usually perceived by body as palpitations . But they can present vaguely like " feeling of doom " or heart is sinking etc.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

My resp rate is 15.

So i could have arrythmia and have no symptoms but feeling disorientated etc.

Ive felt like this 4 weeks now

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
Arrythmia could explain feeling of dying .
Disorientation may be a side effect of the relatively high dose of haloperidol you are taking .
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I feel like im dying because of the disorientation. Ive felt like this weeks wouldnt something of happened?

Last expert said it couldnt be anything like that. Im confused.

Last expert was sure it was anxiety.

Wouldnt my heart rate or blood pressure be abnormal if it was that

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
Given that your heart and blood pressure are normal chance of you having a major arrythmia are less but still there as some arrythmias are episodic and can have normal results in between.
I agree this could all be anxiety but since you are concerned and this can be said with 100 % certainty , therefore , diagnostic tests are needed .
In the end this may be anxiety but that usually does not cause disorientation as a main symptom.
I would favor this to be a side effect of your medications .
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Its there 24 hours a day its like im spaced out constantly just not there and not in my body.

I had this before i started the meds tho?

Ive been to my doctor 3 times and midwifes twice and they keep saying anxiety

Expert:  Caring doc replied 2 years ago.
I have given my suggestions as above.
Differential is underly ing psychological condition versus drug side effect .
Beyond this diagnosing with complete certainty is not possible without examination.
Hope this helps.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

So if no issues with tests why do you think i feel so ill?
