Hello
We do not diagnose on the site.
These bacteria can all be found on the human body.
however, if he has infection, I would be concerned about staph. The lab should also make sure this is not a type of staph called MRSA.
The same medication, mupiricin, could be used, or an oral antibiotic based on culture and sensitivity from the lab.
However, white patches are much more likely to be from candida in many cases, so he should have been swabbed for candida.
In addition, white patches can be a temporary finding indicated nothing.
His doctor has to decide this with him.
The bacterial sensitivities of the lab test should be back within a day or two after th test.
By the way, these are bacteria, they are not viruses.
OK, so that is an initial answer….

INTERNET KEEPS SUGGESTING GONNORHEA FOR neisseria sicca. WE HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL AND MARRIED FOR OVER 3 YEARS, SHOULD WE BE CONCERNED?

Expert:  DrRussMD replied 2 years ago.
No.
That is not gonorrhea.
There are many species of neisseria.
This one can be found in the GI track in people.
