Customer Question

Hi Dr chip mark here
Need some help please

What's up Mark?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Hi Dr chip I had my sign off scan today for liver. All bloods perfect even white cells 4.9 !
Perfect blood count.
Ct scan of full abdomen with contrast
Liver normal all other organs and bowl normal stomach normal
The only thing he said was they saw a tiny thing in my right kidney
He said it's worth a rescan of kidney in 3 months !!!!
Blood results were perfect on kidneys
My consultant said he wouldn't worry.
But you know me. !!!!! Help
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Thing is kind of nebulous Mark--was this a cyst he saw?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Didn't say just said they would rescan in 3 months ????? And see if it's there ??? All else was perfect.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Well most likely it's a small cyst and those are often seen when scans are done for other reasons. That's nothing at all to worry about and I personally wouldn't even follow it up with another scan, but, then, I'm not your doctor.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I'm guessing that the ct with contrast injected would see a tumour. ?
And they wouldn't just say wait 3 months ???
My mind says they are seeing something very small a stone or cyst ?
Would the bloods rule out a cancer or serious. ?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
I really don't know why he didn't tell you more Mark but I'm sure if he thought it were a tumour he would have told you so. Not likely a stone--much more likely just a benign cyst
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes my thoughts. But 3 months suggests a non serious follow up ?
He said it was imaging sometimes if things are borderline ie he thinks there's something small they re check ?
But in your opinion would they see serious obviously ? On ct
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Just a follow up but usually cysts don't get larger in that short a period of time. I personally--if this were me--would have absolutely no worries about this
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I wish you were my doc
From a docs opinion. If they suspected serious they would re check sooner ? And the bloods would be off ??
I think what your saying is if it was a tumour they would have said so ? And the fact that they havnt and just rechecking in 3 months
His words were worth a rescan ??
Leads to believe it's not serious. ?
Ps that contrast makes your bum hot !!! Lol
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Well, if this were a tumour as in kidney cancer--and I'm not saying it is--the bloods wouldn't show it. Again, I'm sure this is just a small cyst and nothing to worry about Mark. And yes--before I inject contrast into a patient I warn them about the hot flash they're bound to feel
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Today.
Sodium 142
Potassium 4.5
Chloride 102
Bicarbonate 26
Urea 6.9
Creatine 85
Estimated gfr 88. Heamoglobin 153 wbc 4.9 red 4.9
50 onwards kidney stars are well common says Google
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
It might be a stone in the pelvis of the kidney and still that wouldn't be anything to worry about but again I don't understand your doctor just saying, hmm, there's something there and nothing else. The lab value look perfect
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Me either.
I'm terrified Feel a bit better now.
Should I relax
Even if it was bad at this tiny stage could they sort it ??
Are kidney systs common at 50 ish ?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Yes, cysts are very common and most people wouldn't even know they had one unless they got a scan for some other reason. Just relax--this isn't anything to worry about but let's do this--call your doctor when you get the chance and ask him exactly what the radiologist's report said and then let me know
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I will. Maybe il ask for the report ?
And send to you ??
It's private and Harley street so I'm guessing I own it ?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Yes--you have the right to a copy of the report so get that and let me know what it says
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I will but the timings ie rescan 3 months tells you it's a simple follow up on a small abnormality !??
Good news on the rest though?!!
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Just a simple follow up and nothing more. But everything else looks spectacularly good Mark
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
the timing and the fact he hasn't mentioned tumour and it's tiny are all reassuring ??
Thank you for all your advice.
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
I'm sure if it were a tumour he'd have said that Mark--don't worry about this

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ps did you say the bloods wouldn't show kidney cancer ?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
No, unless the tumour were very large--there are no markers for kidney cancer
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Oh great. !!
But I'm guessing at this size worse ways it's very early and treatable ?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Let's not deal with what if's Mark--but yes if it were cancer it would be small and completely curable with surgery
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
That's something il grab the report. And send to you mate
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Let me see it when you get it Mark
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Nothing there my friend--looks totally normal
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

no way mate your words are music to my panicking ears !!!!!!!

so all perfect as my doc said ???

would you be so kind as to review the liver while we are on ????

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
All perfect but show me your liver--I prefer it with onions and a nice Chianti
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Did you really have a fatty liver before?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

well he said i did !!!???

and my doc went convinced

my doc said theres no sign of fat

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 2 years ago.
Perfect--smooth, completely homogenous in texture--not a hint of any fatty deposits. Whatever you did you did it very, very well my friend
