I used to get 8 hours uninterrupted sleep. I'm 44 I am increasingly

Resolved Question:

I used to get 8 hours uninterrupted sleep. I'm 44
I am increasingly wakening in the middle of the night and often find when I do that my circulation has been cut off forcing me to move slightly to give it a kick start (for want of a better description). I weigh 107kg am 6 feet tall and am 36-38 waist.
Have had ecg and blood test for unrelated symptoms but heart ok. Blood test suggest might not be in best health but is functioning and have not been prescribed any medication.
my concerns are around the sleep and circulation tho and possible causes other than the obvious weight one which I am trying to do something about by increasing my daily walking. I have very little alcohol, don't smoke either.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Hi there. Thank you for your question. I will be helping you out with your queries

Customer:

Thanks

Dr. Shahzad MD :

For how long has this been going on?

Dr. Shahzad MD :

I mean the sleep issue.

Customer:

For some time now but not exactly sure.its not every single night but is often enough to concern me.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Have you been under increased stress recently/

Customer:

Nothing I am particularly aware of

Dr. Shahzad MD :

You mentioned circulation, can you please elaborate on that as to exactly what you feel and why you think it is circulation?

Customer:

On some occasions I put it down to possibly falling asleep on an arm and waken move and let blood flow back into it. Sometimes it can be both arms.

Customer:

I have a firm mattress and have changed pillows..

Dr. Shahzad MD :

How many hours of sleep do you manage currently?

Customer:

I do wonder if I am getting into awkward positions or if I am not getting sufficient airflow or if it's more related to my physique and something else. I have a little tinnitus which I got examined but nothing found..

Dr. Shahzad MD :

I also think that it may be related a bit to sleeping posture.

Customer:

5 to 6 hours

Dr. Shahzad MD :

It may also be that you are under more stress than usual recently.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

You may not have realized it but you should try and identify the current stress that maybe in the unconscious of your brain.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

All tests and examinations coming back normal is very reassuring.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

It means it is not something serious.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Another thing that could be a problem, particularly if you are a snorer, is sleep apnea.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

For diagnosis of sleep problems you will require a test called as polysomnography.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

or sleep studies.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

So, first I would try to improve your sleeping conditions.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

and try and eliminate any possible stressors.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

and if nothing helps then sleep studies.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Are you with me?

Customer:

Yes...Have thought about the sleep apnea and do snore

Dr. Shahzad MD :

So those are the options.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Anymore questions?

Customer:

Ok..Thanks. sounds like I will try that and continue to try to increase my exercise too. Thanks

Customer:

I guess not at this time. Thanks

Dr. Shahzad MD :

You are most welcome
