Okay and your friend does not have alcohol intake?
Not now. Used to drink at weekends.
Does your friend have any previously known medical conditions or drinks alcohol?
Okay, elevated gamma gt levels are usually due to liver damage, this can be due to alcohol or use of medication toxic to the liver.
Even a small amount of alcohol consumption 24 hours before the gamma gt test can cause a rise in the result.
Elevated levels are also seen in pancreatitis, heart disease or diabetes.
This should be followed up with further work up to rule out the above.
And if there are no significant signs and symptoms and negative results for the above, then the gamma gt should be repeated.
Because there is always a chance of an erroneous report.
