Hi there. Thank you for your question. I will be helping you out with your queries
Is there any swelling or redness of the toe?
Do you have any other medical problems?
Are you on any medications for anything?
Please let me know.
I have got a pacemaker and take Walfarin
Toe slightly red
I take one tablet/day METFORMIN (level of diabetis very low)
I also take Bisoprolol and Isosorbide
Have you had your uric acid levels checked?
Yes was negative
Have you been evaluated for arthritis of your toe?
Do you have pain in other joints of the body?
No real pain but difficulty walking
I personally think that you could be having what is called as osteoarthritis or degenerative arthritis of your toe joint which is causing your pain.
I would like that you should have an x ray of your joint and you will most likely require regular pain medications starting from the mildest pain medication i.e. paracetamol.
If paracetamol is helping then I would just continue with that.
But the big question remains Why at night when I am making no effort
Actually pain at night and not during the day is typical of inflammation.
When there is inflammation in any joint of the body the pain improves with activity and worsens with rest.
So there certainly is an element of inflammation in your joint which is causing your pain to be worse during period of inactivity and improves with activity or during the day.
Are you with me?
Well that is helping. Nobody had said that yet. Thank you for the information.
