most likely your alcohol testing will be negative if you have been off of alcohol for 7 days

thanks for requesting me.

most likely your alcohol testing will be negative if you have been off of alcohol for 7 days

most alcohol testing is to check for ETG in the urine

this test usually becomes negative after 5 days of not drinking.

that is good you have stayed away for 7 days.

your testing most likely will not show alcohol

let me know if you have questions.

Sorry I meant CDt blood test not urine
Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
blood testing is often to detect phosphatidylethanol or PEth

PEth is a direct biomarker for the measurement prolonged alcohol consumption

PEth may be detectable in blood for approximately 2 to 3 weeks following a period of regular alcohol consumption

so given that you are only stopped drinking for 7 days, most likely your blood test will be positive
Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
if your blood testing is to just check for alcohol levels in your blood, then most likely being off of alcohol for 7 days will be a negative test

so it depends on what test they run for you.

They are specifically testing for CDT level
Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
most likely it will be positive

you can read more here

http://www.currentpsychiatry.com/home/article/carbohydrate-deficient-transferrin-test/e708e61129d088f7bfafad7369434dd8.html

%CDT testing is based on the finding that consuming an average >60 grams of alcohol (about 5 standard drinks) daily will increased the percent of carbohydrate deficient trasnferrin levels in your blood.

if you look on the graft on the page, %CDT test can check for relaspe of alcohol use from week 4 to week 12.

if you have end-stage liver disease, biliary cirrhosis and rare transferrin variant it may not be accurate for you

also the test is not as accurate in women and binge drinkers

but I suspect most likely the test will be positive for you because you had a week long binge drinking period.

I was completely abstinent for 6 weeks prior to the binge, does diet affect CDt as I also suffer poor appetite and have not eaten much since the binge
Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
it sounds like you really want to be negative on this upcoming test.

I hope you are negative.

but a week of binge drinking is a long time.

you really do need to eat more

you have ot see a doctor and get your liver tested to see if your liver is working properly.

poor liver function could be causing your lack of appetite.

liver problems can affect the outcome of CDT testing.

so if you have liver problems, your CDT testing could come out negative.

you also need to be checked for stomach ulcers as well as binge drinking can also damage your stomach and cause stomach ulcers and this can affect your appetite.

Is it probable that the test will be negative if ggt is normal? Mine is 19 well with thin normal range
Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.
well, there is a chance it could be negative if your GGTP test is normal.
