Dr. P. Jyoti :

did your doctor advise you for surgery?

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

yes

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

i need 2nd opinion

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

tell me what would simption for requiring surgery

Dr. P. Jyoti :

well surgery is needed in a number of situations

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

tell me more

Dr. P. Jyoti :
Dr. P. Jyoti :

  • Urinate very slowly

  • Took medicines, and they did not help your symptoms

Dr. P. Jyoti :

in your case the only thing which applies as i see it is that you are urinating very slowly

Dr. P. Jyoti :

but even this is relative

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

i m currently taking following medicines

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

tamsulotion

Dr. P. Jyoti :

surgery is not an absolute indication for you

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

vaisesur

Dr. P. Jyoti :

yes i undertand, i have seen your previous question

Dr. P. Jyoti :

you are being helped by these medicines

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

andfinasteride

Dr. P. Jyoti :

if there is no kidney damage, then my opinion is that it would be a fair suggestion to delay the surgery till obstruction is big enough to make it difficult to urinate

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

what r side effets of surgery

Dr. P. Jyoti :

as of now there does not seem any immediate indication of surgery

Dr. P. Jyoti :

but you need to talk with your doctor who has access to your reports

Dr. P. Jyoti :

in particular you need to ask him if there is any urinary retention or any kidney damage

Dr. P. Jyoti :

it is possible that these things are there

Dr. P. Jyoti :

in that case surgery would be unavoidable

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

ok do i need to continue taking medicines

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

listed above

Dr. P. Jyoti :

so best thing is to talk this over with yourdoctor and ask him the indication for surgery in your c case

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

what is urinery retenion

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

how do i know if theres urinery retaiontion

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

what r simptions of urinery retaiontation

Dr. P. Jyoti :

yes you need to continue with the medicines

Dr. P. Jyoti :

urinary retention is when there is some urine left over in the bladder after urination

Dr. P. Jyoti :

this can lead to infections, etc

Dr. P. Jyoti :

so ask your doctor about this

Dr. P. Jyoti :

Hope this shows you the way forward - wish you good health and a quick recovery.

I trust my answer has helped you gain more knowledge and confidence about your problem
and in knowing what to discuss with your doctor.

Dr. P. Jyoti :

any further questions?

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

how wouls i know if there urinery retation . woukd i need unweel

Dr. P. Jyoti :

this can be determined by ultrasound - post voiding ultrasound

Dr. P. Jyoti :

one ultrasound is done before urination and another after urination

Dr. P. Jyoti :

this confirms retention

Dr. P. Jyoti :

ask yourdoctorabout this

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

my dr had not mentioned abour kidney is there any way that i can found out myself

Dr. P. Jyoti :

so ask your doctor about the kidneys also and whether any tests need to be done for that

Dr. P. Jyoti :

Hope that satisfies your query. If so, please choose a positive rating.

If you have any other queries, do ask. Wish you good health and a quick recovery. Bonus is

Thank you.
Dr. P. Jyoti

Dr. P. Jyoti :

any further questions?

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

one more question what would be the sign og urine retation with regard to kidney

Dr. P. Jyoti :

with urine retention you would have recurrent urinary tract infections and a feeling of incomplete voiding

Dr. P. Jyoti :

with kidney damage you would have swelling of the feet, itching, etc

Dr. P. Jyoti :

anyfurther questions?

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

can u please b more specific abour urinery retation with regard to kidney

Dr. P. Jyoti :

i dont get your question - what do you mean by urinary retention with regard to kidney?

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

wha r the sign of kidney with urine?

Dr. P. Jyoti :

sorry again - what do you mean by kdineywith urine? can you be more specific on that?

Dr. P. Jyoti :

in urinary retention urine is not retained in the kidney, it is retained in the bladder

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

what would be sign if i had kidney problem

JACUSTOMER-j8vk9iny- :

have u seen my question>

Expert:  Dr. P. Jyoti replied 1 year ago.
Hello,Sorry for the mixup earlier, I hadnt seen your question and I can see it only now. There is really no immediate problem if you do not have surgery yet.But you will continue to have inconvenience like having to get up at night frequently and also having to go to the toilet frequently. However, if the obstruction increases, you can start having other problems. You may have retention of urine in the bladder, ie, some amount of urine may be retained in the bladder after urination and this can give rise to various other problems like urinary infection. You may have a sudden episode of acute retention, when you are suddenly unable to urinate and may need to go to the hospital. Bladder stones may be formed. The bladder may get weakened over time. The kidneys may get weakened over time.Hence there are various complications that may arise if surgery is not done when required. If your Urologist has advised you for surgery, discuss the whole issue again with him. If he insists that you need surgery, it would be best to go ahead with the surgery.
