This is Dr. David
often times if you drink alcohol or caffeine, the metabolites of these can irritate your bladder and urethra and can cause burning of your urethra at the end of urination.
if you have vaginal atrophy from prior hysterectomy and lack of estrogen in your body, this can cause vaginal dryness which can burn if urine gets on your vulvar area.
you might benefit from doing kegel exercises to help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles to help control your urine better and to prevent leaks.
have you ever done kegel exercises before?
patients who have rectal prolapse are also likely to have bladder prolapse and also vaginal prolapse as well.
yes, when i had some treatment for the rectocele last year a physiotherpist said my pelvic floor muscles were good
my current symptoms include a pressure feeling very low down and a bruised feeling when sitting for a while. and a sort of pain in the pubic area, really quite uncomfortable.
you need to get your urine checked for a possible bladder infection.
you could have a small kidney stone or bladder stone in your bladder irritating your bladder.
you could possibly have overactive bladder muscles which can spasm as well and cause discomfort.
a simple urine test can see if you have blood or infection in your urine.
this can be done at any doctors office or hospital or A&E department
you might benefit from a bladder ultrasound as well to look inside of your bladder.
does this information help?
do you have any other questions?
I have made an appointment to see a doctor but it is a fortnight away or I can have an earlier appointment if i think it is more urgent. do you think this is more urgent or sort of routine?
i only ask because I have sort of ignored it for some time but the symptoms keep changing for the worst
okay thank you, ***** ***** try and move the appointment a bit closer, because it is bothering me, but that could be partly pyschological because I am a bit stressed about the muscle problem and waiting for a muscle biopsy.
do you have any blood in your urine? or cloudy or fowl smelling urine?
good luck with the muscle biopsy
make sure you drink plenty of fluids
not blood but cloudy and smell at times.
and avoid alcohol and caffeine as much as you can.
let me know if you have other questions.
