I am taking Regurim 60XL bladder frequency problem, but

Customer Question

I am taking Regurim 60XL for a bladder frequency problem, but also have an enlarged prostate. I am having trouble weeing and am concerned that I may be suffering from urinary retention. I thought that I would give the regurim a break to restore flow. How long will it take for flow to come back?

Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

that depends on how enlarged your prostate gland is

Dr. David :

and if it is enlarged even more from a prostate infection.

Dr. David :

urinary retention can cause more prostate swelling as well.

Dr. David :

Regurim is trospium and has a long half life of 20-35 hours

Dr. David :

so it can take a week for it to completely get out of your system.

Dr. David :

so if you are unable to urinate at this point, you can't wait a week for the Regurim to get out of your system.

Dr. David :

you need to see a doctor right away at the A&E

Dr. David :

and they can catheterize you to get the urine out.

Dr. David :

and give you a course of antibitoics to help calm down any prostate inflammation

Dr. David :

and you have to see a urologist about your enlarged prostate and bladder spasms.

Dr. David :

let me know if you have questions.

JACUSTOMER-ootpzeev- :

I can urinate but I don't produce very much.

Dr. David :

it still sounds like you could be retaining urine

Dr. David :

or have an inflamed and/or infected prostate gland

Dr. David :

you have to see a doctor about it.

Dr. David :

just stopping the Requrim most likely is not enough.

Dr. David :

you can try to take a hot bath and see if that helps relax your bladder neck muscles.

Dr. David :

and help improve your urination flow.

Dr. David :

but most likely you will need more medications like flomax

Dr. David :

and medications to help shrink your prostate gland like proscar or avodart

Dr. David :

and a course of antibiotics.

Dr. David :

and maybe even a red rubber catheter for self catheterizations to help get the urine out.

JACUSTOMER-ootpzeev- :

I think I am retaining urine. I thought that I would see my GP tomorrow morning. I am on flowmax already.

Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

try the warm bath and see if that improves urine flow.

Dr. David :

let me know if you have other questions.

Dr. David :

do see your GP tomorrow.

Dr. David :

talk to your GP about my suggestions above.

JACUSTOMER-ootpzeev- :

Thanks. Will do both.
