I'm worried I may have ms?

Hi--what are your symptoms and how long have you had them?

What was the result of the blood tests and was that all that was done?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My symptoms are numb arms and hands with a tingling sensation off and on, terrible aching in my shoulders and knock, dizzyness and I'm terribly worried as it's not subsiding and I've been like this for at least a month now. My gp just took three bloods from me but I don't know what for but apparently they're all normal so he has told me to come back in two weeks if I'm still suffering!!

Did he do a full neurological exam on you including checking your balance and looking in your eyes Katie?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Are you with me Katie?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes he looked at my back and neck, he checked my arms and eyes etc etc which to be fair was quite reassuring

OK--did all these symptoms hit you at the same time?

And which, if any of them, is constant?

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Just stay on this one page Katie
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Arms first then dizzyness and leg aching then shoulders

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Does the numbness hit both arma hands at the same time?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
Sorry for all the questions--and when you have that numbness how long does it last?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
All day and all night the aching is constant
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Are you there?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
I'm here. So the aching and the numbness both go on day and night?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yes it does
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.
OK--last question so I can lead you through this--what makes you think--and please be very specific about this--that all these symptoms might indicate MS?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Because on line it flags up as the majority of symptoms linked to ms and I have no idea why or how this has all started but it's really worrying me.. What do you think? How can I get actual answers for the problems?
Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 1 year ago.

OK--and we can continue here after this if you'd like.

First off, the simplest way to rule out MS for you would be to get an MRI of your brain, and I'm sure that will be normal.

Second, MS starts off slowly--maybe a little blurry vision or numbness in a discrete area like a hand or a foot. And whatever symptom first occurs only lasts a short time--usually less than a day.

Third, MS is notorious for jumping around with the symptoms--a hand first, then latr a foot, etc

So basically all you've told me just doesn't fit with MS

What does fit are the following--a disk problem in your neck, a peripheral neuropathy problem as with diabetes or a B12 deficiency, anemia, and possibly an autoimmune disorder like lupus or polymyalgia rheumatica

I don't know what tests your doctor ran but you need to talk to him about testing for anything I mentioned that wasn't checked and I would also get an MRI of your cervical spine
