Hi there.
Thank you for your question.
I will be helping you out with your queries.
High ALP usually indicates obstruction of the biliary ducts in the liver.
This can happen with liver failure patients.

Alp is 225. Is that very high and what poss could it be ? the pt has liver mets as I said.

Expert:  Dr. SH replied 2 years ago.
It is not very high.
Yes it could be due to liver mets or it could be due to mets to the bones.
If a GGT enzyme is raised then that would confirm that this is coming from the liver and not the bones.

What is ggt?

Expert:  Dr. SH replied 2 years ago.
It is a liver enzyme gamma-glutamyl transferase.
If this is raised it would mean that the ALP is coming from the liver and not the bones.
