Hi. How long has this been going on and was any trauma involved? Have you seen a doctor about this?

OK Lori. We can continue after this if you'd likel

This sounds like a problem with a nerve root compression from a herniated disk in your neck. A disk can "blow" without any trauma involved. You need to see a doctor about this and get an MRI of your cervical spine, and then I would refer you to a physiatrist--a physical medicine MD specialist--for hands-on therapy that should relieve the problem in time. If ibuprofen isn't contraindicated for you that will help, along with topical capsaicin cream to your neck.
