Ok everywhere I check on line it refers to women only , only

Resolved Question:

Ok everywhere I check on line it refers to women only , only ever says ' rare in men ' well I think I'm that rare man that cannot get an answer ...
About 4-5 days ago I had a sharp burning pain when I pee'd ..
( in the past I have had 2 kidney stones in the past 30 years 15 years apart ) and have had no pain in the side etc .. I'm 100% it's not a stone that I'm trying to past , .. I currently am on vacation in Thailand first I went to a chemist and he said check your prostrate , gave me some pills .. I thought ok . Then I thought better I went to hospital because now I'm in a real lot of pain ( only when I pee ) just in the penis tube .. I dred trying to go as the pain is excruciating.. I went to Thai hospital , and after 8 hours , they put me on a drip which they said was antibiotics, and an injection in my rear ( again antibiotic ) . Blood test to check prostrate, which he said was ok , normal . .. He then said you have UTI , and prescribed 2 types of antibiotics, Doxycycline 100mg 1 twice daily , and norfloxacin 400mg 1 twice daily ..he said after 3 days you should be ok , but finish tablets .. Great .. But although it's only been 24 hours since I have started .. The pain is so bad , ( and I think to think my pain threshold is high ) . I'm trerrified to even try to pee .. It's a catch 22 because I assume I need to drink as much as possible , plus in this hot country I'll dehydrate ..
Is the only and corrrect answer is wait those 3 days and I'll be ok .. 3 days seems a life time or have I been diagnosed incorrectly .. .. Please advise .. Regards ***** *****

Sorry , yes I also provided a small sample of urine , it was was pretty dark .. But he ( doctor) never said what lead him to diagnose UTI , I'm pretty sure he is correct , I'm more concerned that why do antibiotics take 3 days to do anything .. I'm maybe paranoid that nothing is going to have if anything the pain ( again only when I try and pee ) is worse .. Other than that I feel perfectly fine .. As I type I want to pee but I know A) likely nothing will happen and B) if it does it will just be a dribble And a very very painful dibble .

Dear customer,
Thank you for providing quick additional info.
The symptoms of severe pain you are having can be due to UTI.
UTI is diagnosed from a urine examination. As you had provided sample of urine,so UTI must be diagnosed from this.Pus cells &/or bacteria should be positive to diagnose it as UTI.
Your doctor has already started with 2 antibiotics-Doxycycline 100mg 1 twice daily , and norfloxacin 400mg 1 twice daily, it usually takes 24-48 hours for the antibiotics to show its affect.
Yes,UTI is very common in females & extremely rare in males.
Whenever, males get this UTI,usually an underlying cause is there & its mostly a stone. The kidney/urethral stone is a common risk factor for UTI.
I mean to say that along with the UTI,there is possibility of a urethral stone & that leads to excruciating pain only when you pee or try to pee.
The severity of pain you are having is very uncommon in UTI & is usually due to an underlying stone.
It will be a great idea to have an ultrasound scan to rule out both the stone.Although you have history of kidney stone, in the past 30 years 15 years apart & this pain may be different as it can be in urethra.
So bot***** *****ne is that I strongly advise you to have a ultrasound scan so as to have a better picture & rule out the stone as the underlying cause of UTI.
Hope this helped.

Problem is I'm not due to leave Thailand for another 2 weeks yet , and having to wait a hole day last time and was directed as to what to to do there , I think I'll have no chance of walking in a asking for a ultra sound ..
I think what I need is confidence that these antibiotics WILL kick in , and this terrible pain ( only when I try and pee ) will go away . If that takes 3 days ok .. But in my paranoid state I thinking these Lille pills aren't going to anything , and why can't I take more , 4 a day of each for example .. Are thee the correct pills anyway .. Also if there is a stone sitting there in the past the acid in the bladder would burn it so so passable .. I doesn't feel like it's stuck in the tube , but it could be I guess , can I put antibiotic cream around my penis would that help .. I'm going mad here . .. But your ultrasound suggestion I cannot I think do until I return home .. In 2 weeks !!

Dear customer,
Ohh ultrasound is not possible now for you in Thailand?
If the UTI is the cause, then these are the right medications to kill the bacteria. The culprit in at least 90% of uncomplicated urinary tract infections(UTI) is a type of bacteria called Escherichia coli, better know as E. coli.
No,I does not mean that these are the past stones lying in kidney or bladder. These can be new stones stucked in urethra now.
You need to take the prescribed dosage only & that is the correct dosage.I can understand your pain but even if you overdose, this will not help/kill the bacteria fast.
Applying antibiotic cream around your penis would not help as the infection lies higher in tract where cream cannot reach.
Also continue drinking plenty of fluids.
Drink either unsweetened blueberry juice or unsweetened cranberry juice. Try to drink at least 2 to 4 glasses of cranberry juice a day.
And I suggest you to let your doctor know about that you had history of kidney stones in past & accordingly he will consider it& then treat you accordingly.
Also pain killers need to be prescribed till the antibiotics work.
Hope this helped.

No no I understand you would be referring to a new stone ofcourse .. And that could well be the case , because just a week or so ago I started drinking some lemonade high juice , I did cross my mind then that I had IMO a stone previously drinking this type of stuff because crystallised.. So I think we're are on the right track .. But if the pain is already ' in the tube ' surely the stone is not in the tube because by now wouldn't it be small enough to pass by now and now movement . Yes I told the Thai doctor I have had stones before .. Reading earlier online yes I brought cranberry juice which I'm drinking but it's to hard to find unsweetened, so am I wasting my time on that , it says no added etc .. I got pain killers too from him , but as I say there is no pain anywhere ... Until I try that pee ..

Dear customer,
Thank you for replying back.
I am happy to help you further.
A stone localized to the kidney is usually asymptomatic, but when it breaks off and travels down the ureter it can cause pain. The pain is often severe and intermittent & occurs when trying to pee or pee.
The pain you are having is most likely because of kidney stone stucked in the urethra/urinary tract & can pass by depending on the size of stone & various other factors.
An ultrasound is highly recommended.See if it is possible.
Its okay if you do not get an unsweetened one of cranberry juice.
Continue to take pain killers as prescribed even though you had pain only when you pee or try to pee.
