I have had tennis elbow in both arms for over a year and not managed to get rid of it. I had acupuncture and physio which helped a bit. Swimming and press ups didnt seem to affect it. 2 weeks ago I had a cortisone injection in my right elbow (the worst elbow) The pain has gone completely in my right. I'm treating my left with massage and that is also improving. Only slight pain. How long do I need to rest my right elbow before I can exercise again? Can I swim?

Sorry for the late response as I was away.
You need to give it a rest of at least four to eight weeks and then gradually increase your activities. It is only then that complete healing will happen.
I would prefer giving it a rest of at least six weeks to be on the safe side.
During this period of time you should try your level best not to use your elbows as much as possible or at least do not use them excessively.
I would not recommend that you start exercise again.
I would also not recommend swimming till this is completely healed up.

Ok thanks for your advice. I'm having massage in my elbows it seems to have helped my left elbow. My right is in no pain. Is it ok to massage my right elbow still or just my left??
Expert:  Dr. SH replied 1 year ago.
Massaging your left and right elbow will only help.
There are no side effects.
So you can continue on both.
