I am experiencing numbness in my left thigh, especially when

Resolved Question:

I am experiencing numbness in my left thigh, especially when I am tired. If I rest, it will usually turn to pins and needles and then be better. (I do have some pain in my left hip which I have not reported). I am 75 and generally in good health. Should I be worried or is this just old age? I do not visit a GP regularly.

Hi. We can continue after this if you'd like

This sounds like a pinched nerve, either at the root of the sciatic nerve or perhaps a nerve root in your lumbar spine from a disk problem there, even if you have little or no back pain

I wouldn't call it old age and it doesn't sound like anything too serious but if I were your doctor I'd get x-rays and an MRI of your lumbar spine

So do you think I should be making an early appointment with my doctor or can it wait until after holidays?

Nothing that urgent Susan--it can wait until after your holidays
