Customer Question

hi
Just to let you know I suffer from health anxiety. I have a throbbing pain behind my knee and then becomes a burning pain after a while. I've had it for a couple of days and it only happens when I am lying down. I have no other symptoms. I do have some varicose veins on that leg but they below the knee. I am scared it's a dvt. It's not a joint pain . What can it be
Thanks

This is Dr. David

blood clots in the leg would cause pain and swelling

it doesn't sound like you have swelling

pain between the knee most often is from a baker's cyst pressing on a nerve behind the knee.

it could be varicose veins.

I bet it is a bakers cyst which can become inflamed in the knee and press on nerves behind the knees
