I have had a full blood count and neutrophils reading 1.74

Resolved Question:

I have had a full blood count and neutrophils reading 1.74 and neutrophils per cent reading 39.2 and monocytes per cent 12.6. Can you tell me the cause of these readings. I have b12 injections every 3 months. Thank you

Hi there,Your neutrophil count is little low but still well adequate to fight off any infection.Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause lower neutrophil count.Your monocyte count is little high signifying recent bacterial infection. If you did have recent infection, this is possible.Although not overtly concerning, the blood count should be repeated in a month to ensure stability or improvement. If the neutrophil count drops further then definitely you will need further evaluation to rule out any bone marrow failure, autoimmune disorder, malignancy etc.Best wishes,It was my pleasure to help you today. If I have answered all your questions, Please rate my response Excellent (click on the smiley faces) under this chat box only. Please bookmark my profile for asking further questions! This is the link to my profile:http://www.justanswer.com/medical/expert-mysticdoc/
