I had sex last Friday and I have been bleeding since, it is

Resolved Question:

I had sex last Friday and I have been bleeding since, it is not a period and my periods are very regular. I occasionally bleed like this but not for as long when I do exercise, it has been getting worse for 6 months and I am not registered with a doctor and finding it a struggle to find my catchment area GP

This is Dr. David

you need to see a GP doctor or gyn doctor for a gyn examination right away.

the longer you wait, the worse the problem is.

you could have a laceration or uterine fibroid which is bleeding severely or uterine or cervical cancer

you need a uterine and pelvic ultrasound as well

without these exams and vaginal internal exam, there is no way to know why you are bleeding so much

you are probably anemic and low on red blood cells and hemoglobin as well given how much you are bleeding

if you can't find an NHS doctor, you have to see a private doctor right away.

some doctors online here would suggest that you go to the local hospital and A&E department since you are bleeding to get a gyn examination at the hospital. there you can see a doctor right away.

do you have a hospital or A&E department close to you where you can see a doctor right away?

let me know if you have other questions.

If I go to A&E this evening will they examine me internally?

Is it correct that they can't do a smear while I'm bleeding?

Are you able to direct me to my catchment area?

you can use the link to find GP doctors close to you.

they most likely will help direct you to a GP doctor for a gyn examination in your area.

they can check your blood levels to check for anemia.

a gyn examination and pelvic ultrasound can be done while you are bleeding.

if a mass is felt in your cervix, a biopsy can be done while you are bleeding

a speculum exam can be done while you are bleeding to see where the blood is coming from: if it is coming from the cervical hole or "cervical os" or if it is coming from a lesion or mass in the cervix.

so there are many tests you can have while you are still bleeding.
