HelloYesThe diabetes can do it.The thyroid imbalance can do it.I would ask your doctor what your TSH is.If if is not under 1 but over .5 it is not likely that you have optimal replacement.I think you should see an endocrinologist if this is the case.Irregular periods can be for other reasons as well, including stress, liver or kidney problems, weight fluctuations, diabetes not well controlled, adrenal problems, sex hormone imblanace, etc. OK, so that is an initial answer….Please use reply to expert if you have further questions. When you are ready, please click a positive rating [hopefully excellent]. If you forgot something, come back. I am here daily.

Hi there,This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.Irregular periods are most commonly caused by the lack of balance between estrogen and progesterone hormones. This is common with uncontrolled diabetes.Underactive thyroid also influence these hormone levels.Your levothyroxine dose should be increased as initial measure. If no improvement, then best course of action will be to try out combination estrogen progestin pill like Lo estrin or orthoevra or lutera daily.Your period will get regulated within a month.Best wishes,It was my pleasure to help you today. If I have answered all your questions, Please rate my response Excellent (click on the smiley faces) under this chat box only. Please bookmark my profile for asking further questions! This is the link to my profile:http://www.justanswer.com/medical/expert-mysticdoc/
