My 40 year old husband is constantly lightheaded, not dizzzy.

Resolved Question:

My 40 year old husband is constantly lightheaded, not dizzzy. For the past year. Not like vertigo and no pain in head. Difficulty concentrating and looking straight on. Any idea what it could be

This is Dr. David
does he drink alcohol, alcohol can cause low B12 and folate levels which can affect concentration
he could have a thyroid problem.
he should see a doctor and get a neurological examination and blood tests.
is he willing to see a doctor and get blood testing?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
He has had a full blood count done, its ok. He takes vit b12 every day. His mother has under active thyroid and his father has parkinsons?? Any connections there? Waiting to see neurogist but could be a year!

Also drinks very little alcohol.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.
I would have him see his primary care doctor first to get thyroid hormone levels checked.
and blood magnesium levels checked.
his primary care doctor can also order a brain MRI Scan as well.
that is good he drinks very little.
I hope he doesn't smoke as well.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no he doesn't smoke either. Has an ok diet, gets palpations when he eats rich foods or cheese. Would that also be associated with the thyroid?
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.
hyperthyroidism can cause palpations of the heart.
fatty foods can cause inflammation of the gall bladder or pancreas
and can cause more stomach acid to be produced which can cause gastritis inflammation of the stomach.
the heart is close to the stomach
