5 times over about 6 weeks I have found vertical skin breaks

Resolved Question:

5 times over about 6 weeks I have found vertical skin breaks up to 7 inches on either calf on waking. Can find nothing in the bed or mattress, anyway the usual movement in bed would leave horizontal marks. I was awake for last one. I did not move legs in relation to bed just flexed heel and felt stinging sensation in calf. Another long vertical skin break.

This is Dr. David
can you upload a clear jpg photo of these vertical skin breaks you are having in your calf leg?
these could come from increased swelling in your leg from dependent edema or lymphedema
or a type of compartment syndrome in your lower leg.
are you having any swelling in your calf?

No noticeable swelling. No problems during exercise

I see
those look like possible lines along veins or blood vessels.
it looks like your calf is quite large.
you need a blood vessel biopsy to check for vasculitis
and an ultrasound of your leg to check for blood flow problems.

Thanks . The calves are large but mostly muscle (the fat is elsewhere) I'll try and get the G.P. to check for anything physical. They prefer to dismiss most things as coming from either the head or hormones.
