I had a fall several weeks ago resulting in damage to the ligaments

Resolved Question:

I had a fall several weeks ago resulting in damage to the ligaments and muscles in my elbow. I saw a locum doctor yesterday because a lump has formed by the side of the damages area. He tells me it is a blood clot about an a inch wide by two inches long. He said it would go down in a couple of months. However I am worried as if it breaks away as you hear some do it could get serious. I am a 63 year old male

This type of blood clot is no risk of breaking off. This sits in a part of the tissue where it doesn't travel in the blood stream. It is no risk You are ok.
