Can any doctor tell me what causes fatty lumps under the

Customer Question

Can any doctor tell me what causes fatty lumps under the skin. Over last few years (I'm 76) they seem to be increasing on the thigh parts of my legs. I also have a large one on right side of my body.
Is it to do with diet?
I seem to remember my mother saying she had a load of bumps, as she called them, coming up in her 80's.
My 54 year old son says he has them too.
So is there anything I can do to stop more forming. I have had 2 removed, one on thigh that seemed to be pressing on a nerve or muscle, the other on my right arm for the same reason. I was told they were harmless.

The problem is that as you get older you lose plumpness of the skin.So these fatty growths (lipomas) are more noticeable. It is just your genetics. Nothing you can do
