Past couple of months I have been experiencing an aching

Resolved Question:

For the past couple of months I have been experiencing an aching pain in my left thigh. More to the outer edge than anywhere else. Sometimes the side of my left knee aches, but it's usually just the thigh pain and it can be so bad it wakes me at night. It is definitely worse after sitting for too long, walking downhill/ uphill and after sitting cross legged on the floor. I have not injured it nor done anything out of the ordinary. I am not sure what it is or how to treat it.
