This is Dr. DavidI am sorry about your grand mother.I'm glad she is getting treatment .with treatment for multiple myeloma, patients can live for years and years.I hope she can live for 20 years as well.her medical oncologist will continue to monitor her blood M protein levels.does she have bone pain? if she has bone pain, she may benefit from palliative radiation therapylet me know if you have questions.

She has no bone pain apart frm her arthristis the only blood test that come back abnormals was white blood cells were a bit hight the oncolagist sed shes early stages will that help the treatment work better would it nt be mgus or smolderibg and it says on the net that theres a 3-4 year survival rate but i hope she lasts longer than that and treatment is better now isnt it
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.
it wouldn't be MGUSit would be early stages of multiple myeloma.her survival should be longer than 3-4 years.treatments are better nowlet me know if you have other questions.if done for now, please leave positive rating of 3-5 stars so I can get credit for helping you todaywe only get credit for helping clients after positive feedbackyou can always reach me directly with "a question for Dr. David" in the medicine or oncology categories if you have other questionshere is my website if you need to reach me:http://www.justanswer.com/medical/expert-dr-david/Thanks for using JustAnswers.com

How couldnt it be mgus? What about smoldering there was only 2 avnormal blood test before she found out she had multiple myelmoa so would u say thts early on are you sure her survival should be more that 3-4 years there could ve a cure in 3 years couldnt there
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.
MGUS is a different diagnosis than multiple myeloma.most likely not a cure in 3 yearsbut with current medications she could keep her multiple myeloma at bay for 4-5 years or longer. let me know if you have other questions.if done for now, please leave positive rating of 3-5 stars so I can get credit for helping you todaywe only get credit for helping clients after positive feedbackyou can always reach me directly with "a question for Dr. David" in the medicine or oncology categories if you have other questionshere is my website if you need to reach me:http://www.justanswer.com/medical/expert-dr-david/Thanks for using JustAnswers.com
