My 12 year old son has been experiencing uncontrollable muscle

Resolved Question:

my 12 year old son has been experiencing uncontrollable muscle spasms of his head/ shoulders which causes hand tremors. These spasms last for several seconds of head shaking with only minutes inbetween. These have been going on every few months but are now increasing in intensity and frequency between episodes.
He now can't get to school because of embarassment. The recent bout has now lasted for 4 days/ Last week he had seevere stomach cramps (spasmodic) - which have also been occurring over the last few months.
We (parents) believe this may be dystonia but don't know who to refer him to. We are happy to pay privately.

HelloThere are a number of possibilities here.I am not sure what question you are asking. Can this be dystonia?YEs it can.It can be essential tremor. It can be seizure.Other problems [such as metal toxicity].He needs to see a neurologist immediately. The GP should refer him immediately./I see no reason to have to go private. But, if you do that, to save time, here are some names and profileshttp://www.privatehealth.co.uk/doctors-and-health-professionals/neurologist/If you want to talk to the source, here is a list of neurology departments.http://www.brainandspine.org.uk/neurology-departments OK, so you might have more questions or want to give me more information: Please use reply to expert if you have further questions. When you are ready, please click a positive rating [hopefully excellent—that’s how we are paid, per rating]. If you forgot something, come back.
